Shimla: A forty-eight year old lady, Usha Rana, (48) was murdered here on Sunday evening. Confessing the crime, Hardev Singh (alias Nittu), brother in law of Usha, surrendered at Chotta Shimla police station and has been arrested with a case under section 302 of IPC being registered against him, SHO Sunil Negi told My Himachal News.
A long running family feud is believed to be the cause behind the murder.
Usha, who had been living separately from her husband for many years, was in her rented apartment at Shivpuri locality near Hotel Himland, when Hardev came visiting her at about 7.15 p.m on Sunday evening.
After a brief argument, Hardev is alleged to have stabbed his sister in law with a knife. The victim was rushed to IGMC hospital where she was declared ‘brought dead’.
The police on getting information at 7.40 p.m raised barricades and sent out a flash to the barriers. However, the accused turned up at the police station and surrendered, police sources disclosed.
Ironically, it was International Woman’s Day, when a woman was murdered in the capital here.
