HRTC employees to go on strike

PALAMPUR: The Himachal Road Transport Employees Association today threatened to resort to direct action if the management of the corporation failed to amend its anti employees policies.

In its meeting held here today the association held the management responsible for the rampant corruption prevailing in the HRTC. It was further resolved that the policies and programmes of the management had ruined the HRTC and year after year it was facing losses. He said despite number of meetings with the management is past two year no result had come out. There was an acute shortage of drivers and conductors in the corporation but no efforts were made to full fill these posts.

Briefing newsmen Mr. Jasmer Rana President of the association said the hiring of buses on contract was blunder on the part of HRTC as it had caused loss to corporation in crores in past five years. He said this scheme was introduced only to accommodate the henchmen of the ministers and MLAs. He said HRTC should immediately discontinue the hiring of buses and should buy its own fleet.

Assailing the new BJP government, Mr Rana said new government was also following the same anti employees polices which were launched by the previous government. He said a protest rally would be held at Dharmshala on February 25, to highlight the demands of the employees. Employees all over the state would participate in the rally.
