Shimla: The Himachal government has issued orders to recall all dairies that have been distributed carrying an unauthorised map of the country which disown Pakistan occupied Kashmir and Aksai Chin as part of India.
To fix accountability, an high level official has been asked to inquire into the matter and submit a report within a fortnight.
Talking about the goof up, chief secretary Asha Swaroop said “The government has taken the matter very seriously and has decided to recall all diaries that had been distributed.”
“Additional chief secretary Harinder Hira has been asked to inquire into the matter and submit a report within a fortnight. Action on the basis of the inquiry report would be taken,” said Swaroop.
Reliable sources revealed that panic set into babudom when chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal sought an explanation about how the lapse went unnoticed.
The government annually prints such diaries, which are handed out to all government functionaries across the state. The dairy with the offending map was released in January.
