Shimla: A partially overcast sky on Friday lowered temperatures across the Himalayan ranges and the meteorological office forecast rain over the mid hills and snow in the higher reaches for Saturday and Sunday.
Manmohan Singh, director meteorological centre stated, a western disturbance lying over north-east Afghanistan and neighbourhood as an upper air cyclonic circulation is moving eastward and likely to affect Himachal Pradesh between 3rd January evening to 4th January.
Under the influence of these weather systems, light to moderate rainfall is likely to occur at few places. During the period a fall in day temperatures is expected and the night temperatures were likely to rise.
Light to moderate snowfall was likely in few places over the mid and higher reaches especially in the districts of Chamba, Kullu, Lahaul & Spiti, Kinnaur, Shimla and part of Kangra. Precipitation levels were likely to fall after 5th January, the met officer forecasted.
