Shimla: Under changed policy terms, Moser Baer has come up with highest free power offers for five of the 14 hydroelectric projects for which bids were opened earlier this week. Jindal power has bagged three and DCM Shriram Energy & Infrastructure secured two projects.
Bid for the projects that have a combined generation potential of 1652.5 MW were offered on a fixed upfront amount of Rs 20 lakh per megawatt combined with variable free power component that the promoter offered to bag the project.
The earlier policy sought bids for highest upfront money offered along with 12 percent 18 percent and 30 percent free power for the 12, 18 and 10 years of the plant life.
Moes Baer bagged the 420 MW Reoli Dugli project, the 320 MW Seli project, the 149 MW Sach Khas project, the 69 MW Teling project and the 90 MW Miyar project.
Jindal power has come upfront for the 70 MW Mane Nadang project, 60 MW Lara project, and 40 MW Kuling Lara project.
DCM Energy bagged the 90 MW Khoksar project and the 81 MW Tinget project.
Others who have bagged power projects include Patel Engineering securing the 236 MW Dugar project, Mumbai based Housing Development Infrastructure bagged the 13 MW Suil project, Mumbai based BLA Industries bagged the 7 Mw Shalvi project and Delhi based ANS Construction secured the 7.5 MW Kilhi Bahl project.
Among others those who had bid for these project included Tata Power, Essar Power, GMR, Bhilawara Group and Larson and Tubro but failed to secure any project.
The free power component offered by the power companies ranged between 15.3 percent to 56 percent over the 40 year period for which the project site is handed out to independent power producers.
Barring two projects, all the others are located in difficult terrain in the landlocked high altitude tribal valley of Lahaul .
