Himachal Government Beefs Up SC-ST Corp Funds

Shimla: socialTo provide financing needs of scheduled caste and tribe communities the government has increased the capital size of State Scheduled Cast & Scheduled Tribe Corporation from Rs 40 crore to Rs 60 crore.

Presiding over a board meeting of the corporation Sarveen Chaudhary, welfare minister on Thursday disclosed that 2188 families had been provided Rs 8.49 crore loans under self- employment schemes.

The corporation was implementing a tribal women empowerment scheme under which financial assistance of Rs. 20.53 lakh has been given to 42 women, she said adding that the unemployed youth of scheduled castes have been provided shops in different places to start self-employment avenues.

Chaudhary said the corporation was also extending facilities of education loans under which Rs. 13.89 lakh had been disbursed among 32 beneficiaries of scheduled castes. To disseminate information about various schemes the corporation had organized as many as 112 camps.
