Himachal CM assures Gramin Society on Kasauli Development Plan

KUMARHATTI: A deputation of the members of Gram Adhikar Suraksha Samiti, formed to oppose Kasauli Development Plan, met Mr. Prem Kumar Dhumal, Chief Minister, yesterday. The deputation led by Mr. Rajiv Saizal, local sitting BJP MLA, has vehemently opposed the proposed draft plan of the Town and Country Planning Department which was being mooted in the name of retaining the Greater Kasauli.

According to a press release issue here today by Samiti, the draft plan was adversely affecting the twelve Gram Panchayats namely; Garkhal, Sanawar, Kasauli-Garkhal, Nahri, Jagjit Nagar, Ganguri, Chamian, Ganol, Ghulari, Dharampur, Jabli, Hurang and Jangeshu.

The deputation apprised the CM of hardships, being faced by them. Mr. Saizal presented a memorandum to the CM, on behalf of the villagers of 12 panchayats. In turn, the Chief Minister has assured them that this draft plan would fully take their problems into consideration and would do nothing to harm their interests.

This assurance from the CM has resulted in optimism among the poor peasantry of the area. The villagers have thanked the CM for giving them a patient hearing and assuring them to protect their rights.

Right from the days of the British Raj, the Kasauli Cantonment was the real Greater Kasauli and these 12 Panchayats were out of its purview, Samiti pointed out . Meanwhile in the light the CM assurance, the village community was hoping against hope and keeping its fingers crossed.
