[lang_en]Shimla: Holding Vijay Kumar Sood, an accused in making of an obscene CD, guilty, a local fast track court handed down a one year’s rigorous imprisonment sentence here on Tuesday. The court directed also the convict to pay a compensation of Rs 1 lakh to the girl victim.
Judge Rajan Gupta in his order said, “keeping in view the age and character of the offender as well as the nature of offense I am not inclined to grant him the benefit of the probation of offenders act.
That being so, he is sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of one year under section 6 of the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986.” the order stated.
The judge also maintained that the odious act of the accused had ruined the life of the victim girl.
“The reputation and prestige of the prosecutrix (victim) must have been lowered in the eyes of those who watched the obscene CD/ movie featuring her. The convict is thus directed to pay Rs 1 lakh as compensation to the victim,” the order stated.
Public prosecutor Ajmer Singh while arguing the case had told the court that the accused had allegedly intoxicated the victim girl and taking advantage of her oblivion, prepared the obscene CD without her knowledge, bringing the girl to disrepute.[/lang_en]
