Ambuja Cements today announced that its 3,500 crore expansion programme is still on the cards despite the current slowdown of the economy.
The company plans to expand capacities of one its two plants in Himachal Pradesh by three million tones. Ambuja Cements Managing Director, A. L. Kapur said, “We will add six million tonnes of capacity by 2009. Our expansion programmes are on track.”
Kapur said that Ambuja’s current production capacity was about 19 million tonnes where it utilizes about 85% of the sum capacity, Business Standard reported.
