Shimla: Historic Lord Hanumana temple at Jakhu hill in Shimla will soon have the highest Hanumana statue in Himachal Pradesh in its premises.
Chief Minister, Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal, today performed ‘Pooja’ to pave the way for the erection of this 108 feet high statue of Lord Hanuman.
He thanked Shri Nikhil Nanda, Managing Director of HC Nanda Trust, Delhi, on the occasion for undertaking the pious work of erecting 108 feet high statue of Lord Hanuman and starting the work on most appropriate day of Mahavir Jayanti.
He added that erection of 108 feet high statue of Lord Hanumana will attract religious tourism to the state capital.
Throwing some light upon the emergence of the temple he said that it is believed that Lord Hanuman, while on the way in search of ‘Sanjeevani Booti’ had halted at the top spot for a while where after it became the holy place for the devotees of Lord Hanuman to visit and seek his blessings.
