Narender Bragta, the Horticulture Minister said today that proper supply of cartons to the horticulturists of the state would be ensured while adding that he had personally intervened in the matter with the Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh Packagers Association, which took a decision to not let the strike affect the supply.
He further said that state government is committed to protect the interests of horticulturists and assured that they would not face any difficulty during the apple season. The procurement of apple under Market Intervention Scheme would be made as earlier and receipt at the rate of 5.25 per kg would be provided.
Horticulture Minister said that 27 lacs apple boxes had been sent to various markets across the country during the current season and added that 7400 trucks were being utilized for the purpose. The truck operators had assured to cooperate the horticulturists in transportation of apple produce and added that due to his intervention, truck operators had reduced the transport fare from 12 to 8 percent. Tray manufacturers have also decided to reduce the price from about one rupee per box, he added.
