Sustainable environment and ecological department society (SEEDS), under its school to community program initiated a teachers training program at the DC office, Solan yesterday. The non profit voluntary organization which has been working since 2002 in Himachal Pradesh to ensure resilience to vulnerable communities began the workshop in order to train the teachers and make them acquainted with the various features of disaster management planning.
The Chief Guest K.R. Garg, Deputy Director, Elementary Education, Solan said that disaster management was the latest concept that has been gaining importance by leaps and bounds. He further emphasized on the need to develop and tools for it while training the masses side by side in order to prepare them for any such disasters. While Harsh Joshi, the Principal of D.I.E.T praised the efforts of SEEDS, he further said that SSA is keen to involve community into such programs so as to minimize the loss of human life in any such conditions. He urged to the participating teachers to implement it further in their respective schools.
Rohit Devlal, regional manager SEEDS and Kiran Arya, the Field officer for the organization praised Himachal government for its constant response and participation in their programs. The workshop would continue till 26th July.
