Jogindra Bank Employees seek sacking of chairman

Employees of the Jogindra Central Cooperative Bank Union have sought chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal intervention to sack Mohan Lal Mehta, chairman of the bank against whom alleged charges of serious financial irregularities stand established.

Ajit Singh, president of the union, even demanded that Mohan Lal, who was also a director of HIMFED, be debarred from contesting election for the post in future also. “The inquiry ordered by the government into the charges against Mehta, indicted him,” he said.

Singh added that the chairman had been misusing a bank vehicle that had been mainly bought for the purpose of helping in recovering outstanding loans. “There is no provision for a official vehicle for the bank chairman and Mohan Lal had been misusing the loan recovery vehicle,” he said. Instances of making false claim of TA and DA had also come light, he added.

Mohan Lal as chairman of Jogindra Bank was in his second term and still had two more years of term period left. On the basis of the inquiry report, the government must act fast and remove of the post without any delay. If need be, a vigilance probe should be ordered in the gross irregularities that have surfaced, said Singh.
