For meeting the challenges of the new information age, the two day conference on importance of public relations and media in good governance emphasized upon PR professionals to keep themselves abreast with latest developments, including technology to disseminate information in the interest of a better informed society.
The conference that concluded on Sunday held three sessions: one on public relations strategies for good governance, another on importance of media and one on corporate relations & new media.
Vice-chancellor of HPU, Sunil Gupta who was the chief guest for the valedictory function said that the negative news need not always be taken negatively for such type of reports at times help in taking corrective measures which bring about good governance.
Speaking on the occasion BD Sharma, chairman, Shimla Chapter of Public Relations Society (PRSI) said that the conference has helped in giving exposure to PR professionals about meeting out the challenges facing the profession.
Sander Schorevens from Holland, CV Narsimha Reddy from Hyedrabad, and Ujjwal Chowdhary from Symbosis, International Institute of Mass Communication were the main speakers at the conference.
Ajit Pathak, national president, PRSI announced that a internation conference on PR was to be held at Mauritius in August. The two day conference was inaugurated by the chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal.
