Himachal to create police district in industrial areas

Himachal government would soon consider the formation of a distinct police district under the control of a Superintendent of Police to catch up with law and order requirements in the industrial areas of Baddi-Barotiwala and Nalagarh and to relieve the district police of Solan of these additional responsibilities.

The infrastructural facilities of these areas have been upgraded in the industrial belt to facilitate the entrepreneurs with better services and governance by constituting the Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh Development Authority and setting up the offices of Tehsildar, Public Works Department Sub-Division, Drug Controller Office, New ESI Hospital, private university and housing project for industrial workers, the Chief Minister stated. He further stated that the government would soon think over diverting the proposed railway line from Chandigarh to Baddi and further connect the same with Bilaspur with the Bhanupalli-Bilaspur-Railway line by exploring its feasibility so that the same could be doubly useful to the industrialists and residents.

The state government would soon explore the possibilities of creating three Special Economic Zones in the districts of Kanga, Una and Solan while efforts were afoot to make the proposed land bank for industrial sector functional in the near future by creating the same in association with the private land owners in the industrial belt so that prospective entrepreneurs were allotted land from the bank and saved from falling prey to the property dealers. About 30,000 bighas of land had been identified in seven districts of the state which consisted about 11,000 bighas of land in the private sector.

He directed the authorities to randomly carry inspection of the river beds to check unscientific and illegal mining.
