Shimla:The Himachal cabinet today decided to serve notice on Brakel Corporation for cancellation of their 960 MW Jangi-Thopan(480MW), Thopan Powari (480 MW) hydro project and seeking an explanation why the Rs 193 crore deposited as upfront money be not forfeited for misrepresentation.
At the same time the cabinet presided over by chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal made it clear that subject to cancellation the project would be re-advertised and fresh global bids would be invited to re-allot the project.
The cabinet decided to pursue the vigilance inquiry regarding providing wrong information to the state government about the financial and technical competence of the company which had caused a loss to the state government.
In addition the cabinet granted approval for selling surplus land measuring 65.15 bighas to Siddhartha Super Spinning Mills at village Nila Khera in Tehsil Nalagarh: 40.14 bighas in favour of Jai Mata Glass in village Tipra in district Solan, only for industrial purposes, provided the units fulfilled codal formalities as required under the provisions of state laws, a cabinet spokesman stated.
