KUMARHATTI: The situation turned hot at Baddi main market today after local shopkeepers forced an anti encroachment team to abandon the drive and returned empty handed. . In fact the two teams of administration have restarted it ongoing anti encroachment drive in Baddi today. While one team has started its drive towards Vardhman chowk, another team was gone towards main market.
As soon as the team comprising officials from revenue, TCP and police started picking goods lying unauthorized on road in main market the few shopkeepers objected to this. The verbal duels were later turn into aggressive gestures as agitated shopkeepers even manhandled one TCP official. The shopkeepers even unloaded the seized materials from tractor trolley. Sensing trouble, Mr. Manmohan Sharma, SDM Nalagarh asked the team to return back. The shopkeepers raised slogans against drive and termed it illogical only to cause problem the trader community.
The agitated shopkeepers flayed the BJP government to unnecessary trouble the traders’ community. He said that it was never ever happened during Congress regime whereas the BJP has started to throw the goods from shops just only completing three months in power.
Meanwhile the administration later fields a complaint against around dozen shopkeepers for causing obstruction to work of government officials. The police have registered a case under section of IPC against the accused shopkeepers, confirmed Baddi police.
While confirming the development, Mr. Manmohan Sharma, SDM said that the things were put under control before to turn ugly. He confirmed the manhandling of an official by shopkeepers. He said another team that went towards Vardhman chowk has removed over 40 cases of encroachment peacefully.
