The Himachal Pradesh Institute of Police Studies would be established at Sakoh in Dharamshala in order to enhance the professional skills of the state police personnel, Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal revealed. He laid the foundation stone of the administrative block of 3nd IRB at Sakoh in Dharamshala, estimated to be worth 109.30 lakhs.
However, the existing Police Training College at Daroh near Palampur would continue with the present practice of imparting all round training to the state police personnel, private security agencies and organizations while the new institute would be equipped with necessary modern infrastructure with focus on training programme based upon the sophisticated and modern police training requirements.
He further said that about 121 posts of different categories would be created to manage the new training institute while the training would cover areas like computer operations, motor driving, traffic management and internal security, distress and disaster management skills. Emphasizing on police modernization, he said that a modern communication network is important and projects valued at 11.76 crores are already on way to facilitate the police personnel.
