Mild Snowfall In Tribal Belt

Shimla: A western disturbance over north Pakistan and the state of Jammu & Kashmir revived cold conditions in Himachal Pradesh with some places in the tribal belt of Kinnaur, Lahaul Spiti and Bharmaur receiving mild snow and widespread rains being reported from many parts of the state.

Night temperatures have plummeted in the high altitude tribal belts and several passes including the Rohtang Pass at the head of Kullu-Manali valley , other valleys and mountain ranges were experiencing snow conditions, the meteorological office has reported. Mild snowfall was also reported over the Dhauladhar Ranges that over look Dharmshala and the entire Kangra valley.

Night temperatures in Shimla dropped by as much as four degrees, recording a low of 9 degrees Celsius over the last 24 hours. The minimum temperature at Kalpa the district headquarter of Kinnaur was 0.2 degree Celsius.

Manmohan Singh of the Shimla meteorological office said that rain and snow was forecast over many parts of the state for the next 36 hours.
