Shimla: Former Himachal minister from Congress Singhi Ram and former HP school education board chairman BL Rahi were sent to police custody for a second time after the chief judicial magistrate JL Gupta rejected their bail application as the vigilance team slapped another prevention of corruption case on the duo.
Both are remanded into police custody till 16th April.
Anand Pratap Singh, SP vigilance told that the police custody of the two was needed for establishing the remaining links in the fake certificate case. He said a case under section 13(2) of the prevention of corruption act has also been made out against Rahi and Singhi Ram.
While Singhi Ram is accused of having used an alleged forged certificate for the admission of his daughter Upma Kashyap into a leading Delhi college, Rahi is charged with having allegedly assisting the former minister in getting the contentious document from the state school education board.
Another board official Surinder Mahlotra who was arrested in the case is out on bail as the police have not sought his custody for further investigation. Upma who is also an accused in the case has not been arrested by the police.
