Shimla: Seven persons have died and several others are reported injured, some seriously, when the bus they were traveling in the interiors of Chamba district went off the road and rolled down the hillside into the valley, today afternoon.
The driver and the conductor are among the dead, the police said. While six are said to have died on the spot the seventh succumbed to injures while being shifted for medical treatment.
The Himachal roadways bus was on its way from Sanwal to the Chamba town, when the accident occurred near Dehgran. The bus was reportedly carrying about 40 passengers. The injured have been admitted to Tissa hospital.
Cause of the accident could not be ascertained. Police personnel from the Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) and Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) helped out in the rescue and relief operations, district officials said.
