Shimla: Health minister Rajiv Bindal in response to a question by Prem Singh (Congress) during question hour said that there were 101 primary health centres (PHC) in the state that were functioning from private accommodations.
Work on construction of 46 PHCs was going on and the government had marked Rs 95 crore for construction activity during the year, said the minister.
In response to a supplementary by Kaul Singh (Congress), the health minister ruled out approaching NABARD for funds to construct the remaining PHCs.
The minister said that the PHCs had been categorized into PHC-I and PHC-II depending upon the feeding area and the number of patients treated at a particular center.
The government has made budgetary provisions for constructing the PHC’s and presently there was no need to approach NABARD for the purpose, said Bindal.
