Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh Assembly today passed the general budget for 2008-09 and the related Appropriation Bill, authorising the government to spend Rs 13,415 crore from the Consolidated Fund.
The house passed the budget after speaker Tulsi Ram applied the guillotine on the remaining demands after discussions on the demands for agriculture, irrigation, water supply and sanitation, industries, forests and police and allied organizations were held over four days.
Chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal who also holds the finance portfolio had presented the budget on 7th March. All cut motions moved by the opposition were rejected by voice vote in the house.
