Shimla: The Department of Tourism and Civil Aviation would promote adventure and water sports tourism in a phased manner in the State. This was disclosed at the Review Meeting held here today which was chaired by the Secretary, Tourism Mrs. Manisha Nanda.
Department would start the inspection drive to check the unregistered Hotel units and Guest houses, she added.
Ram Subhag Singh, Commissioner, Tourism informed that from this Summer season, Panchkarma would be started at Hotel Holiday Home, Shimla and by July-August end facilities related with Panchkarma would be created at Joginder Nagar and at Dharamsala so that spiritual and medical tourism could be promoted in the State.
Basic amenities like toilets and signages will be installed at all the entry points of the State and on the State and national highways. Modern signages with tourist information will also be installed at all prominent tourist places of the State. Sign boards about historical places like Kangra Fort, temples etc. will be installed in and around the shrines largely visited by the tourists.
A plan for the landscaping and beautification of Suketi Fossil Park for the attraction of tourists is also proposed.
