Shimla: With Bhanupali-Bilaspur-Beri rail line finding mention in the budget proposals of railway minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal has welcomed its inclusion among the new lines proposed in the 2008-09 budget.
Dhumal said that the state has already made a provision of Rs 37 crore in its 2008-09 annual plan as its share for the proposed Bhanupali-Bilaspur-Beri rail line.
The 63 kilometer new hill track is estimated to cost Rs 1046 crore which is to be constructed on a centre-state cost sharing basis. Cement units in the area are expected to major users of this track.
However the chief minister has expressed his disappointed over the proposal of the railway ministry to place the Chandigarh-Baddi railway line in its survey list.
The Chandigarh-Baddi railway line to connect the industrial area with a broadguage railway line as Baddi-Barotiwala-Nangal Railway line already stands surveyed, claimed the chief minister.
He also expressed his concern about not finding mention regarding conversion of Pathankot-Jogindernagar narrow guage railway line into broadguage one.
