Dharamshala: Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal convened the first meeting of the officers of the Information and Public Relations Department under his chairmanship today.
Chief Minister said that in the age of information technology the PR professionals also needed to update their professional skills by taking advantage of the modern tools of information so that they could also apply the same in their routine functioning.
Bhim Sen, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister and Information and Public Relations said that trustworthiness and administrative proficiency were the essential tools of the department and asked the officers to present the factual and clear picture of the government programmes so that benefit could reach the targetted groups. He emphasized the need to formulate ‘Media Plan’ incorporating the requirements of the common man and media persons. He said that need had surfaced to take advantage of the modern tools of communication for effective working of the department. He said that time factor needed to be adhered to strictly and deliver the news etc. to media persons promptly.
J.R.Katwal, Director of Information and Public Relations welcomed the Chief Minister and apprised him of the departmental functioning and its different wings.
He added that news display panels were being set up in three more districts of Kullu, Bilaspur and Hamirpur to keep informed of daily news bulletins of the state government.
