Party Fully Backs Government – State BJP Chief

Shimla: Lobbying for ministerial positions has given rise to speculation about emerging dissidence in the new government that is barely five day old but BJP state president Jai Ram Thakur has rubbished it saying “there was no question about any dissidence and the party was fully with chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal to fulfill the expectations the people have from the new government.”

In response to a question to a question at a conference call, Thakur said that a few leaders sitting together could not be considered dissidence in any way. Some leaders reportedly having held a meeting at Delhi today in order to lobbying for ministerial berths has set rumours about emerging dissidence doing the rounds here.

Thakur said now that the party was fully in power, the manifesto has been adopted as a policy document of the government and a coordination committee between the government and the party would be established for better functioning of the government.

About speculation and lobbying for ministerial positions that are likely be made soon, Thakur said that it was purely the prerogative of the chief minister who is consultation with the party high command would sort out.

He disclosed that BJP’s vote share from the election of 2003 had increased from 35.38 percent to 43.78 percent in the 2007 election.
