Development activities in Palampur to gear up – Sharma

PALAMPUR: Mr Parveen Sharma local BJP MLA today said that development activities in Palampur area which had come to stand still during congress regime would be geared up. Besides, various development projects which were left half way by congress government would be revived.

Addressing news conference at PWD Rest House here this afternoon, Mr Sharma said the top priority of the BJP government would be the widening and maintenance of roads which are in bad shape today. He said a new bye pass for the Palampur town would also be constructed to ease the public from frequent traffic jams. He said National Highway Authority had already cleared this project. He admitted that heavy traffic in the Palampur town had become a major problem.

Mr. Sharma said the new complex of local hospital was almost complete which would be inaugurated by Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal in the month of February. Besides, Chief Minister would also inaugurate the new building of Capt. Vikram Batra Degree College, which was ready for commissioning.

He said he would lay stress only on the development works of the area. He asked the government officer to initiate effective steps for the implementation of policies and programme of new BJP government. He said he had received reports that few officers were creating hurdles and not following the guide lines given by the Chief Minister for taking up the development works on priority.

He said he had received complaints that many part of the constituency construction of roads and water supply schemes had been stopped on the pretext of non availability of budgetary provisions. He said in such matters he would lodge the complaints with the Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal and stern action would be taken against the guilty officers.
