Shimla:Not averse to privatization, Bhaujan Samaj Party (BSP) President Ms Mayawati, today stated that reservation needed be extended to the private sector, otherwise the right extended under the constitution for marginalized sections like scheduled castes and tribes would simply become irrelevant.
Speaking at an election rally here, Mayawati, who is also the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, the country’s largest populous state said that the government sector entities being privatized was good but it needed to be ensured that reservation was extended to the private sector.
“Without reservation, the poor and deprived sections would simply be denied a place in the system,’ said Mayawati.
She held the congress responsible for dividing society on caste lines and the BJP for using religion for the purpose.
“Only BSP believed in a casteless society and was working towards upliftment of weaker sections of all castes, said Mayawati.
