Shimla: The BJP today said that congress manifesto proposing to grant unemployment allowance was an acknowledgement that their government’s had failed to fulfill an promise of the last election about creating adequate employment avenues.
Talking to the media Om Prakash Dhanker, BJP election campaign organizer said, “ the youth needed jobs and not allowances which the congress government had been unable to generate.â€
Unemployment, price rise and corruption were the main issues in the elections and chief minister Virbhadra Singh should apologize for the many scams that surfaced during the term, he said.
He said that with the congress having remained in power for five years, it was the role of the opposition to point out misdeed of the governing party, but the congress was indulging in allegations and counter-allegations campaign as it has nothing to show for development.
False allegations did help the congress to ride to power in the last elections and the congress leaders who indulged in false propaganda later disowned the allegations leveled in a court affidavit, he said.
The BJP campaign incharge said that their party had lodged a complaint with the election commission against the ruling party for attempting to influence voters in Chamba, Shillai, Jubbal-Kotkahi and Sullah by distributing blankets, cricket gear, cookers, liquor and other inducements.
