Shimla: Senior CPI-M leader and Polit Bureau member Sitaram Yechury on Monday said that
survival of UPA government depended upon the approach it took to going ahead with the Indo-US Nuclear deal.
He said it was because of the left that a number of pro- poor decisions had been taken in past three years which included implementing the national rural employment guarantee scheme (NREGS), the forest rights to tribals, not allowing FDI in retail sector and saving the public sector from being outrightly sold out .
He alleged that both BJP and Congress are diverting the people’s attention from the
real issues of corruption, price rise and unemployment confronting the people.
Yechury who is campaigning for the CPI-M candidate in the State capital from past few days maintained that both the parties are jointly targeting the left.
