Shimla: Sensing the importance that mobile connectivity was playing in electioneering in Himachal elections, Airtel, the state’s leading mobile operator has announced providing poll updates to its subscribers.
Other than providing updates, the service would make trends, exit polls and results available to its post and pre-paid subscribers in the state, company’s chief operating officer (COO) R V S Bhullar told reporters here.
All these facilities would be available to the Airtel subscribers on dialing 543217 and going into the election option, he said.
Bhullar said the telecom company had fixed a rate of Rs. six per minute for availing the services.
It may be mentioned that spin doctors of political parties be the creative minds of the advertising world by conducting large rally’s simply by placing a mobile phone over the broadcasting mike at the venue.
Unable to reach the rally venue at Shillai because of bad weather not permitting any helicopter flights, on Tuesday Rajnath Singh the BJP addressed a large rally over a mobile phone.
“The mobile phone was placed over the public address system at the rally venue and the party presidents’ message to the people got conveyed,” said Satpal Jain BJP campaign incharge in the presence of Rajnath Singh.
However, it was congress campaigner Satpal Maharaj who took the lead in conducting a mobile phone rally in the state. Unable to make it to Nagwain in Mandi district, on Monday, Satpal Maharaj addressed the rally thorough a mobile phone from the Delhi airport itself.
