Shimla: Top brass of BJP, lead by leader of the opposition in the parliament LK Advani, are scheduled to attend the swearing in ceremony of Prem Kumar Dhumal that takes place on Sunday morning at the historic Ridge Maidan.
Besides Advani, the other leaders booked for the event include, former union ministers Arun Jaietly, Muktar Abbas Naqvi, Chattisgarh chief minister Raman Singh, Punjab chief minister Prakash Singh Badal, Uttrakhand chief minister BC Khanduri, Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje and Punjab minister Manoranjan Kalia.
Party president Rajnath Singh who was earlier scheduled to attend the swearing in ceremony would not be attending it as the party has planned protest over the Ram Seethu issue in Delhi, BJP sources said.
The state party till late evening had no confirmation whether Gujarat chief minister Narinder Modi would be attending the ceremony or not. Earlier BJP workers had claimed that Modi would be attending the function.
While Advani arrived here this evening, the other leaders are expected to arrive in the morning and depart after the swearing in function is completed.
Shortage of accommodation in the hill capital has been cited as one of the reasons for the leaders departing early.
Being the festive year ender week, the hill station is packed with visitors and all accommodation has been booked much in advance posing logistic problems for the new party as it assumes the reigns of power.
