Shimla: Rebel BJP candidate Roop Dass Kashyap accused his former party colleagues of attempting to intimidate him for withdrawing from contesting from the Kasumpati seat.
“Yesterday, before the close of withdrawals, BJP workers in four cars attempted to trap me near Tara Devi temple and followed me to Ghanahatti and Dhammi,†said Kashyap at a media conference here.
They were pressurizing me to withdraw from the contest. However, I was saved only due to the support from the local people and my supporters who kept those people at bay,” he claimed.
Kashyap, a former BJP minister, has been denied a party ticket, which has been allotted to his Tarsem Bharti. In protest, Kashyap has quit the party and is in the fray as an independent.
