Companies now use house walls for advertisement
KUMARHATTI: Notwithstanding the drive of PWD to remove hoardings along Kalka-Shimla national highway the walls of houses along highway here being used by companies for the advertisement in complete violation of directions passed by the High Court in this regard.
The advertisement on walls was not only subjected to contempt of court but annul the idea behind directions. The court directions clearly stated that the hoardings and anything bound to disturb motorist’ attention and eclipsing hills beauty should be removed.
However to make some bucks and commercial benefits the guidelines were being the shown door by people and companies as well.
Though a committee led by SDM would inspect the highway to check any violation of court directions after the completion of PWD drive. But going by the practice adopted by companies the drive seemed to be failed in serving its purpose.
When contacted, Mr. Mohan Chauhan, DC Solan said that writing on wall was also a violation of guidelines. Though there was no provision of penalty against this but the whitewash expenses on walls to remove advertisement would be charged from the house owner. Besides this, companies were also liable for action, he maintained.
