Shimla:
Two persons died on the spot and at least 31 others were injured when an state roadways transport bus went of the road and rolled down the hill near Theog, about 50 kilometers from here, early today.
Priyanka Basu, sub-divisional magistrate at Theog said that the Himachal Road Transport Corporation bus was on its way from Shimla to Karana, when it met with an accident at about 7.45 a.m. The dead were identified as Desh Chand (50), the driver of the bus and Chet Ram (62).
Six of the injured were reported to be serious and were shifted to the state hospital in the capital. The others are being treated at the government hospital at Theog, said Basu.
An immediate relief of Rs 10,000 has been extended to the next of the kin of the dead, Rs 5,000 to the seriously injured and Rs 2,000 to others who sustained injuries in the accident, she said.
A case had been registered and investigations initiated, for the cause of the accident could not be immediately ascertained.
