Shimla: Election Commission of India has directed the candidates and political parties to ensure that the vehicles for campaign purpose should ply only with the prior approval of the Returning Officer (RO) and display the permit issued prominently on the windscreen, so that they are visible from distance, as said by Chief Electoral Officer, Manisha Nanda.
She instructed that the permit should abide the vehicle number and name of the candidate in whose favor it has been issued. The list of issued permits should be given to all observers and in case of any addition; the intimation should be given to them. The responsibility of implementing these instructions would lie in the hands of the Superintendent of Police of the concerned district.
