Twenty persons today applied for the Congress ticket to all the five assembly seats of the Hamirpur district on the opening day of the receipt of the applications for the Vidhan sabha elections. Maximum number of ten applications came from Nadaunta assembly segment, followed by three each from Hamirpur, Bamsan and Mewa (Reserve). Only one person applied from Nadaun seat, according to Deepak Sharma, the spokesman of the district congress committee.
Sharma told this reporter that the last date for the receipt of the applications with the district congress committee was October 30th . The DCC would then form a panel send its recommendations to the state body with its comments.
He clarified that any person who would not apply through DCC would not be considered for the ticket as per the decision of the party high command.
He said that a meeting of the DCC was also held today under Presidentship of Balak Ram Sharma, the DCC chief and decided to fight the elections jointly and to win all the five seats this time.
