Mrs. Manisha Nanda, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Himachal informed assembly elections would be held on the basis of Photo Electoral Rolls finally published with reference to 1st January 2007 as qualifying date.
CEO informed that electoral rolls might be seen in the offices of Electoral Registration Officers (DCs/ADMs/SDMs), in District Election Offices and also Booth Level Officers (Patwaris/ Panchayat Secretaries/Panchayat Assistants etc.) appointed for each polling station.
Electoral rolls are also available on the department website http://ceohimachal.nic.in.
She informed that all citizens who have completed 18 years of age as on 1st January 2007 and have other qualifications for getting registered as electors but for some reasons their names were not included in the electoral rolls, should apply on Form-6 for inclusion of their names in the electoral rolls.
She said that similarly, objections to delete the names of dead/migrated electors from the electoral rolls could be made in Form-7 by interested persons. She said that these forms could be submitted in the offices of Electoral Registration Officers (DCs/ADMs/SDMs) upto one week before the last date of nomination.
Himachal CEO said that last date of nomination is 27th October 2007 for three Tribal Assembly Constituencies and 30th November 2007 for remaining Assembly Constituencies.
Earlier CEO met governor and apprised him of preparations of the elections.
Notification for the elections for three tribal Assembly Constituencies would be issued on 20th October, 2007. Last date for filing nominations of tribal seats is 27th October, 2007, scrutiny of the nomination would be done on 29th October, 2007 and last date for withdrawal of candidature is 31st October, 2007. Polling would be held on 14th November, 2007.
