Shimla: Chief electoral officer Manisha Nanda has ordered a special revision of photo electoral rolls for all Vidhan Sabha constituencies, marking January 1, 2008 as the qualifying date to be an eligible voter for the forthcoming general assembly election.
Nanda said that the draft electoral rolls would be published on 12th November, 2007 and would be available in the offices of election registration officer and all polling booths for public view. Objections could be filed between 12th to 26th November. The electoral rolls would be read out in panchayat gram sabhas and others local body meetings for verification on 18th November.
All objections are proposed to be disposed of by the first week of January, 2008 and the final electoral roll would be published on 7th January, said Nanda. Information regarding electoral rolls is also available on the website ‘http://ceohimachal.nic.in’ and voters could ensure their names, she added.
