The state Anti-corruption and Vigilance Bureau arrested BJP legislator Rajiv Bindal at Solan over alleged irregularities in recruitment of a drivers, a keymen and a meter reader in the local municipal council between 1998-2000.
The MLA who represent the Solan assembly segment was issued summons on Thursday and was asked to report at the bureau office today. Following his arrest, Bindal was presented before the district and session judge where he was bailed out. Devender Thakur, the present chairman of the Solan municipal committee was also arrested along with Bindal and subsequently released on bail.
Earlier SC Kalsotra, a special secretary to the chief minister and Purshottam Chowdhary, an executive officer with the Parwanoo Municipal committee were arrested, last Tuesday in the same case by the bureau.
The issue pertains to recruitments made by the Solan Municipal committee in the 1998-2000 period. The case was registered in December 2006 and the four have been charged with cheating, dishonesty, forgery and criminal conspiracy under sections 420, 468, 471, 120 (B) and 13 (2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
Bindal, over phone said “the case is politically motivated as it only pertained to regularization of 3 lower class old employees who had been working prior to my becoming president of the corporation.
