Residents gharou Dy. SP office in Paonta, demand arrest of murder accused

NAHAN JULY 19: Agitated over the non arrest of accused in a murder case that took place in the Shyampur village of Paonta Sub Division even after six days of incident, over two hundred villagers from around ten Panchyats of the area agitated in front of Paonta Police station and gharoued the office of Dy S.P. Paonta, this after noon.

This morning residents of around ten Panchyats of Paonta sub division including Shyam Pur, Khodowala, Gorkhuwala and Bhagani started arriving at Paonta and gathered in front of Paonta Police Station with a large number of women. Residents staged a Dharna in front of the Police Station and raised slogans against Singhpura Police. Residents were demanding immediate arrest of a suspect of the murder named in the FIR by the family of deceased.

After police failed to pacify the angry people moved towards office of Dy SP Paonta and Gharoud the office. Residents complained that instead of arresting the murderer Singhpura Police was harassing the complainant family of deceased Pritam Singh and ‘doing nothing’ to solve the murder case. Agitators openly raised slogans to air their demand for the transfer of Chowki incharge of Singhpura Police post and leveled several charges of inaction against him. Agitators threatened that if by Sunday next the murder case was not solved and accused arrested the traffic in the Trans Giri area would be blocked on Monday.

Dy S.P. Paonta Shubra Tiwari informed agitators that Singhopura Chowki incharge was not investigating the case and Station House Officer of Paonta Police Station had been handed over the investigation of the murder case. She said that to help SHO Paonta in the investigation, Sub Inspector incharge of Majra Police Station Gurmeet Singh had also been deputed at Singhpura Police Post and she expressed hope that the case would be solved shortly. She assured that all the persons named by the agitators would be grilled and no stone would be left unturned to nab the accused.

As per the detail of the case Pritam Singh [19], resident of village Shyam Pur was murdered by the unidentified thieves with a sharp edged weapon in the wee hours on 14th of this month in the fields near Tube Well that belongs to his family. As per complaint filed with the police on the day of incident in the wee hours at about 4.00 A.M. Pritam Singh noticed that some thieves were carrying electric motor from the Tube Well that belongs to his family, he followed them and there was a scuffle between the thieves and boy. Thieves attacked with a sharp edged weapon on his chest and he died on the spot.

Paonta Police had registered a case under section 380 and 302 IPC but no arrest was made till date.
