Shimla, July 29:Diversifying into tourism, Jagson Airlines is to construct an Rs 8 Cr ropeway to Jakhu top in Shimla, the foundation stone for which was laid by chief minister Virbhadra Singh, today.
Jagdish Gupta, chairman, Jagson Airlines, is his welcome address said that the company would use world class equipments for the ropeway project and all safety measures would be incorporated into its operation systems.
Speaking on the occasion Virbhadra said that the government was working towards adding quality tourism infrastructure for prolonging the stay of tourists. He said that the number of tourists visiting the state was increasing with every successive year and the government was targeting high paying tourists.
The ropeway would be rise to an eight story level structure and would go over the tree line. Only 31 trees were involved and hardly any would be felled, though it may require some lopping, said Subhash Ahluwalia, managing director HP tourism.
