State Government would emphasize equity participation upto 49 percent in all major hydel projects to be allocated for execution to joint venture, private, independent power player company projects to derive maximum benefit out of natural potential available in the State. This was stated by Virbhadra Singh, Chief Minister while addressing a public meeting at Keylong today. He also dedicated the motorable bridge constructed at a cost of Rs. 1.90 crore over the Bhaga River.
Chief Minister said that the State had initiated equity participation from 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Electric Power Project where State obtained 25% equity participation. He said that the NJPC, now known, as Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam was a joint venture company of Government of India and H.P. Government and all projects being executed by SJVNL had share of Himachal. He said that the State had enhanced equity in 412 MW Rampur Project from 25% to 30 %. He added that in future allotment, efforts would be made to get maximum equity upto 49% in Hydro Electric Projects.
Chief Minister said that Himachal was the first State in the country which had made provision of subsidy on domestic power and essential commodities. He said that Rs. 100 crore subsidy was made available on essential commodities and Rs. 130 crore on subsidizing domestic power bills.
