A prolific writer with an extraordinary creative skill, Mr. Kushal Kumar has written intelligent and beautifully crafted stories, profoundly human and compulsively readable. Kumar was born in 30/10/1961 in Mumbai (Maharashtra) in a middle class Himachali family belongs to village Lahat, Teh jaisinhpur, Dist. Kangra. He began writing stories before he turned 20. The stories revealed his skill to write on any subject powerfully, with aesthetic sense and responsibility. Kushal’s writings written with remarkable ease, are well received by a larger audience. They found it hard to believe that Pahari language and culture in which they brought in Mumbai two thousand kilometer away from Himachal is going to be ceased.
Kumar says, it is correct that we need to learn many things including English to grow and progress but we don’t understand how not knowing Pahari language and culture helps people to progress. We are very much sure that we can compete and meet any challenge of life with strength and character inherited by us being Pahari. Kumar further added that Himachal Mitra is started at the initiatives of migrant Himchalis who came to this city over the years in search of better life. Himachal Mitra is a tribute to their Motherland.
