Himachal Chief Minister today flagged off the rally of youth members of the Yuvak Mandals of the State to represent the state in the National Youth Conference of the l50th anniversary of the’ Jung-e-Azadi’, launch of national freedom movement at the national capital New Delhi on May 11, 2007 and to be addressed by the President of India and other top leaders of the nation.
Addressing the rally before flagging off, the Chief Minister paid his rich tributes to the freedom fighters who attained martyrdom by laying down their lives to struggle for the independence and lighted the torch of freedom movement. He said that the nation would never forget its martyrs who suffered physically and mentally both at the hands of foreign rulers. He said that despite the fact that the martyrs were subjected to the torture and tyranny by the foreign rulers they never let the flame of freedom movement die and made numerous sacrifices.
Virbhadra Singh signed the banner to be presented to the President of India on May 11, 2007 at New Delhi.
Prabhat Kumar, Coordinator, Nehru Yuva Kendra Shimla, welcomed the Chief Minister and threw light on the historical background of the freedom movement.
