Himachal launches Programme to Distribute Essential Commodities at Reasonable Rates

ration.JPGHimachal Chief Minister launched the subsidized ration scheme for the all 14 lakh ration card holders involving an estimated subsidy of about Rs. 100 crore per annum by distributing essential commodities amongst the eligible BPL, APL and other workers of the society and has emerged the First State in the country providing subsidized ration to the people at a subsidized ration to the people at a State level function organized at Una today.

Virbhadra Singh said that under the scheme Antyodaya and BPL families would be provided 15 kg wheat flour and 20 kg rice per month, while the Malka Dal would be available at a rate of Rs. 20 per kg while Urad and Chana Dals would be available at a price of Rs. 30 per kg. He said that edible oil at a rate of Rs. 50 per liter and iodized salt at Rs. 4 per kg would also be issued to the ration card holders.

Chief Minister said that senior citizens above 65 years of age would be provided 10 kg. foodgrains per month under Annapurna scheme while the Antodaya families would get wheat at Rs. 2 and rice at Rs. 3 per kg besides BPL families getting the same at a rate of Rs. 3.25 and Rs. 6.85 per kg. respectively. He said that under the scheme almost cent percent population of the State would get benefited and hold the price line at appropriate level to benefit the remaining consumers as well.
