V.S. Kokje, Governor exhorted the people to come forward for the welfare of the handicapped.
Speaking in a Health Camp organized by Narain Seva Sansthan at Hamirpur today, Kokje said that all sections of the society should work for the welfare and upliftment of the handicapped keeping in view of their disability and also work for the self-reliance of the section so that they could be brought with the mainstream of nation.
Lauding the role of Narain Seva Sansthan for the service of handicapped, Governor said that the Sansthan was today known in the country for this works which it was doing for the cause of the handicapped, poor, disabled and mentally and physically helpless persons. He said that the service of suffering community and disabled was the most essential and the persons or institution which indulged in it always leads himself towards success.
He said that disability was a great curse which not only affected the entire family but society as a whole and added that the responsibility of handicapped also lied on the society. He said that service of handicapped should be taken as a challenge by the society and concerted efforts needed to be rendered for the welfare of handicapped.
Governor further said that there was a dire need to pay special attention for rehabilitation of the handicapped for which all sections of the society should come forward so that this section could be brought with the mainstream of the nation as it was the duty of every section of the society. Prem Kumar Dhumal, former Chief Minister also spoke on the occasion.
