Himachal Chief Minister has urged the Central Government to strengthen railway network in hill State and provide proper budgetary support in ensuing railway budget to on-going railway projects in the State.
Virbhadra Singh who called on Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, at New Delhi today requested him to declare Bilaspur-Bhanupali-Beri Railway line as project of national importance keeping in view of its strategic locations and importance for the development of the hill State.
He also requested the Railway Minister to expedite the work on Una-Talwara railway line as it would generate massive economic activity in Himachal Pradesh as well Punjab and told him that work on this line has been going-on snail pace from many years. He said that broad gauge railway line between Una and Talwara would meet the long pending demand of the people of this area and provide alternative mode of transportation to them as the people have only to rely on road network in absence of any other viable communication network in the region.
Virbhadra Singh also laid the importance of connecting Baddi-Barotiwara industrial town with Chandigarh railway line through broad gauge line and told him that top industrial houses has developed as major industrial hub of North India. He said that massive migratory workers have shifted to the area to seek the job avenues and business opportunities in the area and the rail network will benefit the industrialists and workers as well.
Railways Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav appreciated the State Government’s demands and said that Center will provide all assistance to the State to strengthen railways network and said that Center would make efforts to complete the railways projects in time-bound manner.
