Himachal Kesari celebrates silver jubilee

Virbhadra Singh, Chief Minister emphasized the need to dedicate some space for writing about the political history of the State to help young people to know about the people, who had contributed significantly in making Himachal Pradesh and bringing the same to the present status. He was addressing the Annual Prize Distribution Function organized to celebrate the Silver Jubilee of the Hindi Weekly, Himachal Kesari at Dharamshala last evening.

Chief Minister gave away awards for distinctive contribution in respective fields which included Shri Harsh Mahajan, Animal Husbandry Minister, Shri Tarun Shridhar, Managing Director, HPTDC, Shri Dinesh Malhotra, Director, Information & Public Relations, Dr. K.D. Lakhanpal, Secretary H.P. Board of School Education, Smt. Rachan Gupta, Shri G.C. Pathania, besides conferring the “Himachal Gaurav” title for meritorious services rendered by them in their respective fields. He also honoured the senior citizens and school children on the occasion.

Shri Anil Soni, Editor, Divya Himachal and Shri Vijay Gupta, News Editor, Dainik Jagran expressed their views about the changing role of the media in the present day context.

Shri Praveen Rai, Founder Editor, Himachal Kesari, welcomed the Chief Minister and spoke about the importance and role of the small newspapers. He also detailed the difficulties being faced by small newspapers.
